Valve shrugs off yet another Left 4 Dead PS3 rumor

left 4 dead

Despite a PS3 port of Left 4 Dead being listed for pre-order over on HMV, Valve has dismissed talk of the zombie shooter hitting the console.

When asked about the listing, a laughing Valve rep told CVG: “Fantastic. I can’t wait to see it.”

A PS3 version is also listed on Play.com. HMV lists the game as a June 5 release, with EA as the publisher.

So instead of dishing out the cash for pre-order goodness, PS3 users should just keep their fingers crossed for the time being.

Things that wont happen: MGS4 coming the 360. L4D coming to PS3. Mostly because the people who make them said: Look, stop asking me about it, I’m not going to make it for that console.

I thought EA had said that a port was on the cards?

Wasnt it Valve that said that, PT?

I cant remember the exact words but it was more along the context of “a port will be done if someone is interested”

So basiclly, expect EA to do a port, announced at E3 and out by years end, a year late to the PC and 360 version.

I’d have to dig it up… I was looking at it quite by accident the other day when searching for EA’s financial results.

I also remember seeing someone holding a copy, but I always figured it to be a photoshop. Seems more and more likely, but if I was interested in L4D, I’d have bought it for my PC ages ago.

Valve also paid my Microsoft not to release games for the PS3?

It must be tempting to bring it out on PS3. EA have already invested money in developing a PS3 port of the Source engine, and with the advancements made in PS3 development, it shouldn’t take much to bring it up to speed with the 360 version, even if there are the usual AA/resolution trade offs.
