I’d be so much happier if they said that Spore, WAR, and Mirror’s Edge were being planned for release on Android. I have a strong distaste for Microsoft’s strangehold on the OS market, especially when Linux is genuinely better than even Vista these days.

Segue-time! Vista hasn’t even grasped my favourite accessibility feature: Global font sizes. As someone with a rather serious ocular disability, I’m filled with dread at the thought of small text. And aside from some rather horrid DPI workaround (that makes graphics look awful), there’s absolutely no global font size in Vista. So some text is still tiny. Compared to some of the recent Linux distros, Windows seems amazingly old and tired. To me, at least.

So I would love for Linux to gain a foothold, but if no one’s going to take it seriously then that’s not going to happen. Shame really. Though this is probably why I’ve migrated to consoles for most of my gaming, as indie companies take Linux seriously and the major releases there are getting Linux builds, and I can play the more mainstream stuff on a console. That means for applications and socialising, I can make the better choice.

It would be fun to have games like Spore on Linux, but it’s not absolutely necessary. I would enjoy seeing that happen though, but not even EA has the balls for such a daring venture. Again, a shame.
