Rumour: 8Realms to close, Jagex to cut jobs as result

Jagex is to close MMO 8Realms less than a year after opening, according to a Develop report.

In connection, a number of jobs are also set to go due to the closure, with others set to move around within the company

The site added that the game only attracted 10% of users to turn a profit.

“Jagex has always been committed to creating fun and compelling games," said Jagex COO Daniel Clough.

"During the 8Realms beta it has become clear that the game doesn’t meet our high expectations for success and we are therefore channelling our focus on other exciting opportunities in the pipeline."
