Pokemon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon How to Catch Ditto Guide

Ditto is an incredibly versatile pokémon in its own right, but perhaps its most useful ability is that it’s able to breed with all known breedable pokémon. This will save you a lot of time hunting for pokémon of the opposite sex, or for pokémon that are in the same egg group and are therefore an eligible breeding partner.

Fortunately for trainers coming to Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon, you can find yourself a Ditto only a few hours into the game. As you enter Konikoni City, you’ll find the Konikoni City Police Station. Speak with the officer at the back of the room and there you have it, your first Ditto! Just be sure to bring some pokéballs along with you.

This Ditto is actually one of five you can catch this way, with the game affectionately dubbing the critters the ‘Ditto Five’. As a bonus, each of these Dittos has a popular nature and at least 3 perfect IVs, making them even better for breeding. Make sure you catch all of them rather than knocking them out in battle.

When you’re further into the game, you’ll be able to encounter wild Ditto at Mount Hokulani, which is located on Ula’ula. While it’ll be hard to find a Ditto that’s better than any of the Ditto Five, it’s worth picking one up here in order to trade it with someone from a country that speaks a different language.

You can also find Ditto in Pokemon GO.

When you breed two pokémon of different languages together, you have an even better chance of hatching a shiny pokémon! This is known as Masuda Method breeding, and can take shiny odds down from 1/4096 to 1/683. You’ll have even better odds if you have the Shiny Charm, too!
