Nippon Ichi keen on PSP remasters

Quirky publisher Nippon Ichi is seriously investigating the possibility of brining some of its PSP games into Sony's HD, cross-platform PSP Remasters series.

"We’re looking into it right now," Nippon Ichi Software president Souhei Niikawa told Siliconera of the range.

"We’re investigating how the feature works and learning about the system. We’re happy about it too because we have a strong lineup on the PSP and we would like to change that to PS3, so we can have a wider audience."

The Japanese-based Nippon Ichi is responsible for producing a number of kooky PSP titles of its own - as well as publishing those of others through its American and European arms.

Some of its better know releases include various Disgaea titles and spin-off Prinny, cult favourite roguelike Z.H.P. Unlosing Ranger VS Darkdeath Evilman, Generation of Chaos, Spectral Souls: Resurrection of the Ethereal Empires, and a number of other games with equally lengthy and unlikely titles.

The PSP remaster series polishes up PSP releases and makes them playable both on the portable and, in shiny HD mode, on the PlayStation 3. Players can play on either system and transfer progress between the two, alá Konami's Transfarring system.

Monster Hunter Portable 3rd and a God of War collection are the only titles confirmed so far, and Sony has not announced plans to bring the series outside Japan.
