Fallout 76 Purified Water Locations - Where to Get Water Purifier Plans

The world of Fallout 76 is a dangerous place. There’s other players, vicious robots and even a new hyper-intelligent race of ghouls to contend with. Here’s how to make sure you stay alive.

Fallout 76 forces players to manage hunger and thirst as well rads and health. This completely changes the dynamic of the game, placing further emphasis on survival mechanics. Thirst is a particularly difficult thing to manage in Fallout 76, as you’ll likely be forced to drink less than sanitary water to survive. The dirty and boiled variants of water in Fallout 76 both come with the added penalty of Rads, which is why you’ll want to focus on getting as much Purified Water as possible. Problem is, it’s pretty hard to come by, and you’ll want to start producing your own soon after starting the game. In this Fallout 76 Purified Water Guide, we’ll explain how to craft Purified Water, where to get Water Filters, and also where to get yourself the Water Purifier Plan.

How to Get Purified Water in Fallout 76

There are a few ways to get Purified Water in Fallout 76. Firstly, you can get lucky and find it while out looting in the world. This is not very common, and is really only true of certain areas like Overseers’ buildings and survival stations. Another way you can get Purified Water is by crafting it at a Campfire. You’ll need Dirty Water and a Water Filter. Water Filters are not particularly easy to find, but you can craft them (more on that later). The final way to get Purified Water is to use a Water Purifier. You’ll need to find the plan first though, which we’ll lead you through next.

Fallout 76 Purified Water

There are a few different types of water in Fallout 76, each with its own status effects. Given how quickly your thirst meter drains, you’ll likely need to collect all three to tide you over while out exploring. The lowest quality is Dirty Water. This is collected in cartons or pulled directly from water sources. There’s a chance you’ll get a disease and high Rads as well. The next step up is Boiled Water, which is produced by combining wood and Dirty Water at a Campfire. Boiled Water does not have the same chance of disease, but will still give you Rads on consumption. The ideal source for hydration in Fallout 76 is Purified Water, but it’s kind of hard to come by.

Fallout 76 Water Purifier Plans Location

If you want to make Purified Water easily, you’ll need a Water Purifier. First, you’ll have to find the correct plan, then craft it at your Camp. There’s a Water Purifier Plan in the Charleston Capitol Building. First, head to the point on the map below:

From there, head to the entrance to the DMV entrance, to the West of the area. We’ve shown the entrance to the building so find it and then head inside.

As soon as you’ve arrived inside of the DMV building, look to your left. There is an Overseer’s Cache on the ground. There is a Water Purifier Plan inside, we’ve confirmed this as have many other players.

Once you have the Water Purifier Plan, head into the Notes section of your Pip Boy and read it. You can now construct the Water Purifier and make Purified Water back at your Camp..

Fallout 76 Water Filter Crafting

If you need a quick way to purify water, a water filter is a good way to go. You’ll need the following to craft one:

  • 3x Bleach Dogwood
  • 1x Adhesive
  • 1x Glowing Fungus
