Ahead of the NPDs, Nintendo announced Switch was the best-selling console for the third month in a row. It has also sold over 2 million units in the US.
In September, Switch was the top-selling console hardware for the third-month in a row, and the fifth time overall in the seven months since launch.
The consoles has now surpassed 2 million units sold in US alone alone. Expect the number of units sold once the holiday shopping season rolls around, as it wasn’t available in store until after the season ended.
With Switch, 3DS and the Super NES Classic Edition combined, Nintendo systems made up two-thirds of September’s total hardware sales.
On the top ten software charts, Nintendo said Mario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battle landed in seventh place, Metroid: Samus Returns debuted in eighth, and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild came in at number ten, down from fifth place in August.
Going further, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe landed was 11 on the extended charts, compared to seventh in August.
The full NPD September report is expected later this evening.
