The question of whether Pokemon would be developed for the Switch has been conclusively answered. During Nintendo’s E3 presentation, Game Freak revealed it was developing a core game in the Pokemon series which would likely launch next year.

It’s worth remembering this is completely separate from Pokemon Tournament DX, the action-fighting game Nintendo confirmed for the Switch earlier in the month. This will also mark a major transition for Nintendo and Game Freak, who have traditionally kept Pokemon to handheld-exclusive systems like the 3DS.

How exactly Pokemon transitions between TV and handheld settings remains to be seen, but I suspect many fans are deeply excited to find out for themselves.
