A Pokemon RPG is headed to the Nintendo Switch

Game Freak is working on a core Pokemon RPG intended for Nintendo Switch.

The question of whether Pokemon would be developed for the Switch has been conclusively answered. During Nintendo's E3 presentation, Game Freak revealed it was developing a core game in the Pokemon series which would likely launch next year.

It's worth remembering this is completely separate from Pokemon Tournament DX, the action-fighting game Nintendo confirmed for the Switch earlier in the month. This will also mark a major transition for Nintendo and Game Freak, who have traditionally kept Pokemon to handheld-exclusive systems like the 3DS.

How exactly Pokemon transitions between TV and handheld settings remains to be seen, but I suspect many fans are deeply excited to find out for themselves.
