EGX organiser Gamer Network has announced the dates for EGX 2016. Next year's event will once again be held at the National Exhibition Centre (NEC) in Birmingham, September 22-25.

Gamer Network expects to host 80,000 attendees and over 1,500 screen showing pre-release games in different genres, including VR.

"In 2015 we established key new features of the show with Gfinity, YouTube and others, broadening the event's appeal and expanding our consumer offering. EGX 2016 will see us build on this year's success and grow even further," events director David Lilley said.

"2016 will be a landmark year for the industry with the next generation of consoles firmly established and virtual reality set to transform the gaming landscape. EGX is perfectly placed to demonstrate the flourishing nature of the industry."

Star Wars Battlefront was voted game of the show at this year's event, which also saw playable demos of Assassin’s Creed Syndicate, The Division, Rainbow Six Siege, Homefront: The Revolution, Just Cause 3, and plenty of other Nintendo and VR titles. EGX 2015 was also the first non-PAX convention to host the Indie Megabooth.

EGX 2016 tickets will go sale next year at the official website.
