Cancellation of unannounced project forces Double Fine to lay off 12 employees

Due to an unannounced project being cancelled by a publisher, Double Fine has had to lay off a portion of its staff.

Speaking with GI International, studio head Tim Schafer told the site the lay offs were unfortunate, but nessesary due to the publishing deal falling through.

"One of our unannounced projects was unexpectedly cancelled by its publisher, forcing us to reduce our staff by 12 people," he said. "Our remaining projects ,Broken Age, Massive Chalice, and Grim Fandango Remastered, are unaffected."

The studio's Massive Chalice is in Early Access on Steam, and is expected to be released in the spring.

It is also working on the remastered version of Grim Fandango, and the latest build will be shown off at Sony's PlayStation Experience next month.
