CoD: Advanced Warfare digital copies will unlock three hours early

Those who pre-purchased a digital copy of Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare through Xbox Live or PSN will be happy to know that the game will now unlock at midnight Eastern Time worldwide.

The new unlock time means all digital copies will unlock at 12:01 Eastern Time. So players on the West Coast will be playing this at 9PM on November 2. Multiple users on Reddit are reporting the change, which affects PSN and Xbox Live.

This unfortunately won't make much of a difference to those in UK, since either times will correspond to early AM hours in the region.

This is one of the rare instances where we see a game - especially one of this calibre, do a midnight launch this way. Midnight releases for digital copies are usually staggered to give brick and mortar stores a chance to host midnight launch events and sell the bulk of their copies, before giving digital owners the chance to play.
