McDonald’s Happy Meals will feature Pokemon Toys next

Pokemon will be the next gaming brand to grace the inside of your McDonald’s Happy Meal box, courtesy of Nintendo.

It follows the recent Super Mario Happy Meal line here in the UK.

The toy line is coming to North American McDonald’s stores once its current Spider-Man promotion ends, and judging by the image above, appear to be nothing more than flat Pokeballs with images of various Pokemon on them.

Not that it’ll stop a frenzy of kids desperately trying to get them all, mind you.

However, it does seem that each Pokemon will come with its corresponding trading card, along with McPlay Power functionality, which means the toys will link up with McDonald’s official app somehow. Traditionally, the chain’s drinks cups have barcodes that can be scanned using the app to unlock mini-games, so we could see a similar feature with the Pokemon toys.

We’ll have more as it comes.
