Rogue Legacy turned a profit within an hour on sale

Indie darling Rogue Legacy recovered its almost $15,000 budget within its first hour available to buy, according to a GDC post-mortem talk.

Teddy and Kenny Lee of Cellar Door Games said that over its 18-month development cycle, the project cost them $14,878 out of their own pockets, much higher than the $1,000 average they spent on previous titles.

But the gamble paid off: Rogue Legacy paid for itself in under an hour, and went on to move 100,000 units in its first week.
