Spartacus Legends due on PS3, Xbox 360 in early 2013

A brawler based on the popular Starz series Spartacus is on the way, Ubisoft has announced.

Gladiator sim Spartacus Legends comes courtesy of Girl Fight developer Kung Fu Factory, and is due through the PlayStation Network and Xbox Live Arcade in early 2013, alongside the new season of the TV show.

The combat-heavy adaptation is described as fully customisable in terms of appearance, weapons and fighting style, and tracks the rise of a player creator gladiator from training through to championship. If you'd rather stick to what you know, you can play as Spartacus or Crixus; Liam McIntyre and Manu Bennett contributed to the game somehow, apparently. There will be a ranked online mode, as well as local multiplayer.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, series creator Steven S. DeKnight is an avid gamer and has enjoyed the experience of working with Kung Fu Factory on the fighter.
