Ultimate MvC3 started life as DLC

Budget release Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 had originally been intended as DLC for Marvel vs. Capcom 3, before Japan's natural disasters and staff health issues forced a re-think.

As was previously reported, UMvC3 will be a disc-only release, but it seems Capcom had originally intended it as DLC.

That's according to an interview that Capcom gave to Japanese magazine Famitsu, picked up by Game Jouhou and translated by Andriasang. The reasons quoted for the change to a disc-only format were the earthquake and subsequent tsunami that hit Japan earlier this year, as well as staff health problems.

UMvC3 will itself receive some DLC, with new costumes and modes to be offered - one of which will allow you to use unlimited Hyper Combos.

The game is said to be 80 percent complete and is expected to launch in November.

Thanks, Eurogamer.
