Microsoft launches cheaper Xbox Development Kit

Microsoft has announced the availability of a new Xbox Development Kit, which reduces "the overall price to create, test, debug, and release an Xbox 360 or Xbox Live Arcade game."

The new hardware is being made available at "a significantly reduced price from its predecessor," and will increase efficiency as well as reducing costs on any-sized dev team making an Xbox 360 title.

It's also offering a new sidecar attachment, which can be used across multiple XDK kits, offering debugging and disc emulation.

"Microsoft is known in the industry for providing easy-to-use tools that allow developers to create high quality games without a huge time investment," said Microsoft's Pete Isensee.

"Now we're offering those tools at a lower cost to reduce their monetary investment as well."
