CD Projekt had a bit of an accident this week and briefly released REDkit, its modding suite for The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings. The friendly developer has advised that any of those lucky enough to snaffle the early release are welcome to go ahead and use them; the official release is almost upon us, thankfully. “Please give us just a little bit more time (it’s almost here!)” community manager Marcin Momot said.

Witcher dev CD Projekt RED has started a countdown on its official site. The timer will count down to the 8th Birthday of The Witcher Forums, and will trigger a series of clebrations involving fans. Aww, what a lovely bunch. More details below.

CD Projekt RED has announced it will soon release the REDkit, a suite of tools that will set the modding community loose on the PC version of its acclaimed RPG, The Witcher 2: Assassin’s of Kings. REDkit will enable the creation of non-linear adventures, new locations and more, according to the CDPR blog post on the matter; expect some scamp to ensure that “more” equates to “mature content”.

The polish company will be providing behind-closed-doors media presentations of REDkit at next week’s gamescom in Germany.

CD Projekt RED has announced players can now pre-download the Enhanced Edition update for the PC version of The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings. The majority of the 10 GB update can be downloaded here, and come April 17 when it’s released for both PC and Xbox 360, the rest of the files can be applied.

GAME, Gamestation and Namco Bandai Partners UK have confirmed that The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings – Enhanced Edition for Xbox 360 will be available at all GAME and Gamestation stores across the UK on the April 17. Customers who have pre-ordered the Dark Edition and the standard edition will receive the game at launch. If you still have any questions on the matter, contact your local GAME or Gamestation store and confirm your pre-order online or in-store.

CD Projekt RED has released a new animation video for The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings – Enhanced Edition which summarizes the events which preceded it in The Witcher.
