A massive patch for Assassin’s Creed 3 is rolling onto PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 with this week’s console network updates. The substantial update corrects a hefty list of bugs including a number of mission-breaking errors, one of the franchise’s less delightful hallmarks. There are fixes for multiplayer, too, such as ensuring “players are no longer stuck after they got hit by knives while climbing cranes”, which I thought was a pretty great feature. Pity. If you enjoy reading patch notes as much as I hate formatting them, head on over to the Ubisoft forums to be fully informed with the full change log, which may include spoilers.

Konami advises the patch should be available now, or at latest when your local PlayStation Store updates. Although full patch notes have not been provided, the update appears to have the same features as the Xbox 360 version, namely improved frame rate; “fixed” save game system; bug squashing in the Homeless side quest; and general “performance enhancements” and bug fixes. Silent Hill: Downpour released for both consoles in March.

The FIFA 13 patch EA Sports released on PC this week has arrived on Xbox Live and is rolling out on the PlayStation Store. The full patch notes are quite substantial and reference a couple of much-bemoaned issues like missing commentary in a couple of languages and the famous invisible ball glitch. Sadly, it also includes a fix for the “rare cases of physics elasticity when two players collide” which may mean less of this kind of thing.
