Sony details plans for gamescom panel
Sony has provided more details on its gamescom presence, starting with its press conference which kicks off at 7.00pm CET/6.00pm BST on August 14. It will be streamed live from the PlayStation Blog. A panel discussion will also take place, the topic being “games as art”, and it will include: SCWW president Shuhei Yoshida, Ian Dallas, co-founder of Giant Sparrow, Kellee Santiago, co-founder of thatgamecompany, Alex Evans, co-founder of Media Molecule, Adam Volker from Moonbot Studio, and a special guest “working on a currently unannounced project.” The panel will be streamed live as well. Gamescom runs August 15-19.

Disney Princesses Costume Packs heading to LittleBigPlanet 2
Those looking for new attire for their Sackboy, should be pleased to know dresses are on the horizon. According to the PS Blog, eight princess outfits will arrive for LittleBigPlanet 2 next month via Disney Princesses Costume Packs. Just think: soon you’ll be able to dress your burlap doll as Belle, Aurora, Tiana, Cinderella, Rapunzel, Jasmine, Snow White or even Ariel. The first pack arrives next week on July 31 in the US and August 1 in the UK and contains Aurora, Cinderella, Jasmine and Snow White. The remaining princesses will be released in the Disney Princesses Costume Pack 2, just a couple of weeks later. Here’s a larger version of the artwork.

Media Molecule hiring for “next AAA title”
Media Molecule is hiring people to fill “a small, multi-discipline team very early in the process,” of a new “AAA project.” That’s not all though, the firm is also working on an “exciting new projects,” and yet another listing has the firm hiring for “different projects on different platforms”. Sounds like Vita and PS3 goodies in the works there, doesn’t it? Lots of hiring going on at MM, and if you have experience as a Gameplay Programmer, UI Designer, 3D Animator, Audio Programmer or Lead Audio Designer, you may wish to apply. Thanks, OPM.

LittleBigPlanet Vita due in autumn
According to Andriasang, Famitsu has LittleBigPlanet Vita down for a northern autumn release. That’s the Japanese launch but it lines up with the third quarter guidelines we’ve been given in the past. The portable spin off can’t be too far off as Sony is talking about a new DLC pack for the PlayStation 3 version which will allow users on both consoles to play together, and a new beta is underway. New screens through the break.

Go behind the scenes with the making of LBP Vita
Sony has posted a “making-of” video for LBP Vita. The featurette basically gives you a peek behind the curtain of the game complete with footage and the developers chatting about the costumes, levels and whatnot. The game is expected to go into beta soon, with invites coming “soon,” as well. Box art is below.

Journey costume and sticker pack hitting LBP2 next month
Media Molecule has announced the Deep Sea Diver Pack featuring a diver, edible crab, anglerfish and pufferfish costumes will be available later today through PSN and tomorrow through the UK store for LBP2. LBP Karting to launch this year on PS3, first video
Sony has announced LittleBigPlanet Karting, developed by United Front Games, will launch this year on PS3 providing fans a new means to” Play, Create, Share” in competitive and cooperative karting adventures in various 3D environments. A video has also been released and is posted below.

LittleBigPlanet franchise has over 6 million user-generated levels and games
Sony has announced more than 6 million user-generated games and levels have been uploaded onto the PlayStation Network for the LittleBigPlanet franchise. To celebrate the milestone, XDev Studio Europe posted the latest LBP newsletter on the EU PS Blog, along with a reminder for the Vita Room event happening in London from February 17 through through February 23. The event allows attendees to get hands-on time with the new device as well as LBP Vita. The new handheld launches February 22.

Ezio costume for Sackboy hitting LBP2 on November 15
Media Molecule has announced that on November 15, a new Ezio costume for Sackboy will be made available in LittleBigPlanet 2 to help celebrate the launch of Assassin’s Creed: Revelations. You can have a larger look at the cute fella below.
The studio has also made Sackboy styled wallpapers for Uncharted 3, and posted a reminder to Drakeify your fella with the costume currently up for grabs through the store.

PSA: LBP2 Move pack hits US PSN, Move peripheral 50% off at GameStop
Double good news on the Sony front today: the LittleBigPlanet 2 Move pack has landed on US PSN for $9.99 and Move peripherals are on sale at GameStop at 50 percent off. The former gives you Move compatibility, five levels, seven side-games, tons of tools, Move Paint and new costumes to name a few. The later, is a sale on the Move Motion Controller, the Move Navigation Controller, the Move Charging Station, and the Move SharpShooter which are all on sale until October 2 while supplies last. It looks as though the Move patch for LittleBigPlanet 2 is live. According to a post over on NeoGAF, the download hits around 568MB, and includes more than just the Move update.

LittleBigPlanet image teases “something awesome” inbound
This was posted on the official LittleBigPlanet forums earlier. The image reads “Something Awesome is Coming.” What that actually is, we’re clueless, but we reckon this may not have anything to do with the upcoming Move content pack that’s coming in a couple of weeks. Let the guessing begin.
