Fallout 3 PS3 patched to 1.61
The PS3 version of Fallout 3′s been patched to version 1.61, according to this Fallout.Wikia post.
The update’s added a proper Trophy menu, apparently, as well as a Download section under the main menu.
The kids over there are speculating that this means the arrival of the PS3 version of Broken Steel’s imminent. Bethesda’s never dated the DLC, but we’d say it was a fair assumption.
Thanks, Monk.

New Bethesda game to be announced in “the next month or so”

Fallout 3′s through. Over and done. So, what bomb is Bethesda dropping on the videogame world next? Well, we don’t really know. And Bethesda’s not telling. For now, anyway.
However, MTV Multiplayer sends word that we’ll hear something from Bethesda “in the next month or so.” What will it be? Well, according to Pete Hines, it won’t be an iPhone project or Todd Howard and co.’s next big thing.
Perhaps it’s that Wii game we’ve been waiting so long to hear about?

Bethesda: There is “enough content out there” for Fallout 3
Bethesda’s Todd Howard has said that five DLC chapters was “enough” DLC for Fallout 3.
“I think we’ve put enough content out there for this game,” said Howard.
Speaking to Kotaku, the lead designer on the game said that the dev team was split into two after development on the game was done: one half working on DLC for the game and the other working on the next big title from Bethesda.
“About half the team goes on to the next big game. The other half, which is mostly a lot of artists and designers go on to DLC stuff.”
He also revealed that the plan was to do three chapters – Operation Anchorage, The Pitt and Broken Steel – and see what happened from there.
“We knew we wanted to do three initially and we’ll see where that goes. I kind of had in my mind that the upper limit was five. Part of that was what I think people are willing to continue to pay for a game. And a lot of that is our own internal bandwidth.”
And the rest they say is history.

New weapons, perk revealed for Mothership Zeta

If you’d rather Mothership Zeta’s mysterious alien culture remain, well, mysterious, you should probably go ahead and plug your ears and avert your eyes. If not, though, MTV Multiplayer‘s new info on the DLC is right up your alley.
“Mothership Zeta is full of the most high tech weaponry in the game. It includes a Shock Baton for melee fighters, multiple new firearms including an Alien Atomizer, a pistol, and the Alien Disintegrator, a new rifle. There’s also a new grenade type, a Cryo Grenade, which freezes enemies for a short period of time. On top of that there are new unique weapons, and a new heavy weapon,” said Bethesda’s Jeff Gardiner.
He also revealed a new perk called “Xenotech Expert,” which increases your damage-dealing prowess with alien weapons.
On top of that, somewhere on the ship, you’ll be able to find an item called “Alien Epoxy,” a marvel of alien engineering that repairs items by 25% without a duplicate item. Better still, you have the option of returning to the ship whenever you want, so even if you miss an alien whosit or whatsit while roaming the ship’s corridors, you can always come back.
The DLC’s out this August for Xbox 360 and PC owners, while PS3 Fallout faithful will have to wait until September.

Level increase for Fallout 3 would throw it out of balance, says Bethesda

Bethesda’s Jeff Gardiner has said that a level cap increase for Fallout 3 would throw the game out of balance, therefore, one will not see their character higher than a level 30 any time soon.
“I know from the outside this seems like a fairly simple proposition [for a level increase], but doing this could unbalance the game in a variety of ways,” he told MTV.
He continued saying that the games was designed to be replayed several times as a variety of characters, so for fun, just play one of those.

PS3 Fallout 3 DLC delayed, reordered

PS3 owners got a VATS readout of 95% on a June launch for their long-awaited Fallout 3 DLC, but somehow, it still missed. Now, Bethesda’s finally pinned down something of a solid release date for the tardy content, though with a bit of a twist.
Instead of rolling out the mini-expansions in proper order, Broken Steel (which raises the game’s level cap from 20 to 30) will come out first, followed by Operation: Anchorage and The Pitt “probably at the same time.”
Bethesda’s “hoping” to finally silence fans’ cries “at the end of September.” In other words, plans are still subject to change. Here’s hoping they don’t.
Thanks, Kotaku.

Russian Fallout 3 cosplay is properly frightening

Russian cosplayers have taken the entire concept to a ludicrous level yet again, this time “doing” Fallout 3 with an OCD-level of dedication. Check out a ton of shots of the Brotherhood of Steel and other people that should have stayed in a videogame walking round abandoned eastern locales on English Russia.
The last game to get this style of treatment from the Russian mentalists was S.T.A.L.K.E.R. They may have been Ukranian, though. We don’t want to offend anyone. Especially not this lot.

Bethesda almost finished with PS3′s Fallout 3 DLC

Bethesda’s Pete Hines says that the Operation: Anchorage DLC for Fallout 3 on PS3 is almost finished.
“It’s a different platform with a different way of doing things and it requires special attention and plenty of testing before it’s released,” he told Eurogamer.
“We are trying to put the finishing touches on it now, but as I said above it’s a different task than DLC on another platform, and so there are things we have to finish doing and testing before it’s done on PS3.”
After this bit is released, Hines revealed that the other packs will follow every 4-6 weeks.

Thanks, 1UP.

More here. It costs 800 MS Points. And it’s set in a swamp. Irresistible.

Point Lookout to give Fallout 3 players “several hours” of play

Jeff Gardiner, lead producer on upcoming Fallout 3 DLC Point Lookout, has told Platform Nation that the content will last for “several hours”. You’d hope so, really.
Gardiner said Lookout wouldn’t be “substantive” specifically “in terms of new gameplay features such as additional levels,” but, “there are however lots of new creatures, items, armor, weapons and a whole new area to explore.
“The Point Lookout Swamp is substantive and should engross players for several hours even if they ignore the quest line.”
There’s an interview through there. The DLC’s out tomorrow for 360 and PC.
