If you’d like to see what CryEngine 3 can do when using it’s real-time 3D technologies are being used for urban or industrial projects, you should have a look at the real-time demo before from Enodo which uses gaming technology to create interactive models and immersive, 3D environments for industrial design. Timesplitters 4 isn’t happening any time soon – if at all – but a Crytek-approved CryEngine mod has now entered development. The Timesplitters mod started life as a Facebook campaign and after receiving enough interest, is now on its way.

Sniper Ghost Warrior 2 has received a new gameplay trailer from City Interactive, following a spate of silence on the project. It’s ‘soon to be released’ according to the developer’s official YouTube channel. If you’re a fan of lush visuals and CryEngine 3 horse power, then you’d do well to check out the clip below.

A report out of the POC2012 Conference in Seoul, via ComputerWorld, suggests games running CryEngine 3 and Modern Warfare 3′s IW Engine may both be vulnerable to separate security issues. Security consultant firm ReVuln demonstrated issues with multiplayer servers using both engines, and said similar problems may exist in Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 – but will expect an official commission rather than volunteering the details to Activision.

Crysis 3 is looking remarkably sweet thanks to the advances Crytek has made with CryEngine 3. Don’t take my word for it; the video through the break goes into detal on some of the graphical highlights of the new tech.

Crytek CEO Cevat Yerli has revealed to VG247 that Unreal Engine 4 didn’t do anything to surprise the studio, and that CryEngine 3 is the benchmark in next-gen technology.

Crytek’s Cevat Yerli has said CryEngine 3 “already exists” at the quality of Unreal Engine 4, and while there are “tangible differences,” between the two engines, it’s not something people will notice when looking at still images of in-game screenshots.

Owl Game Studio, a group made up of Russian modders, has announced its S.T.A.L.K.E.R.-inspired Crysis mod, CryZone: Sector 23, will be released as a full game using CryEngine 3.

Crytek has updated the CryEngine 3 SDK to version 3.4 with new tools such as a “revamped DirectX 11 tessellation,” improved AI, advanced options for character rendering, an advanced Glass Shader and more. The firm also released a video showing the update in action. It’s posted below, courtesy of Evil Avatar. THQ and Machinima have released a new video for Nexuiz, showing just a few of over the 100 Dynamic Mutators or power-ups featured in the game, which can change the way you play. Developed by Denver-based IllFonic and powered by CryENGINE 3, the game fast-paced arena FPS will be released as part of Microsoft’s House Party season on Xbox 360 February 29 for 800 Microsoft Points, and will be released later this spring on PS3 and PC. Prague-based developer Warhorse has announced it’s closed a licensing deal for Crytek’s CryEngine 3, which the firm will use to develop its unannounced RPG. Warhorse said the debut title from the studio will combine “open-world experience with a rich story and innovative gameplay elements.” Founded last summer, Warhorse is comprised of former members of 2K Czech and Bohemia Interactive as well as Dragon’s Lair author Martin Klíma.

MechWarrior Online will be built on Crytek’s award-winning CryEngine 3. According to a post on the game’s website, Piranha Bytes president Russ Bullock believes the tech will allow for “a truly unique AAA experience”.
The long-awaited return to a beloved PC gaming franchise was announced at the end of October as a free-to-play MMO mech sim which plays out the series canon in real time conflicts.
