Ex GRIN devs set up Whiteout

In what must be the umpteenth studio opening since the demise of Swedish developer GRIN last year, former staff have set up "Whiteout".

Whiteout, co-founded by Joel Fagerlund, Simon Rodriguez and Konstantin Schutte, is focusing on developing games for digital markets, and has a CryEngine 3 project under way.

"We've got some very exciting concepts under development," Fagerlund said in a press release.

"We are currently working on a bigger project in CryEngine 3, and thanks to the excellent technology and support from Crytek, we have been able to carefully hand-craft a playable prototype that will knock your socks off."

Fagerlund said games like Limbo and Hello's Joe Danger were inspiration behind going digital.

"At GRIN, we saw the community's extraordinary response to Bionic Commando: Rearmed. Couple that with the fact that new releases such as Limbo and Joe Danger have been so well received, we know that the digital marketplace is vibrant and thriving," he said.

GRIN developed the less-then-well received console reboot of Bionic Commando, as well as Wanted: Weapons of Fate, Terminator: Salvation and a since-canned western-developed Final Fantasy game.

Thanks, GI.
