Microsoft says "you can system-link play across all three generations" with Xbox One X backwards compatibility

That goes for the Xbox One S too.

Xbox

At Microsoft's E3 conference yesterday, they doubled down on backwards compatibility with the announcement that original Xbox games will also get support.

People were psyched and Phil Spencer basked in the glow of their adoration.

We didn't get much information other than the news that Crimson Skies: Road to Revenge would be the first backwards compatible title, but since then, we've had further clarification from Microsoft's Alberto Penello on Twitter.

"Your original Xbox discs will work. Digital licenses will carry over. AND you can system-link play across all three generations."

That includes any original Xbox titles bought digitally on Xbox 360. And it's not just an Xbox One X feature either.

"Everything works on Xbox One S and Xbox One X! So yes on both platforms!"

So if you couldn't bring yourself to get rid of your original Xbox games, your serious hoarding problem has finally paid off.

Which games are you looking forward to playing again from your collection? Let us know in the comments.
