Gears of War 4 lag causes streamer to lose it, break his controller

Lag brings out the monster in all of us.

gears of war 4 launch trailer (1)

Gears of War 4 has been live for a couple of days now, and nearly a week for Ultimate Edition owners. Since the early launch, there have been widespread reports of matchmaking issues and in-game lag.

The official launch only managed to repopulate this big, 40+ pages thread on the official forums, as more and more people went in to report their issues.

If you've been following the game on Twitch recently, you'll probably have noticed that some of the big streamers have been hosting scrims and playing against one another, as the upper bracket of the game's skill rating was taking too long to match them with players of similar skills. As with regular players, lag frustrated many of these top players.

GoldGlove, one of Gears of War 4's top streamers on Twitch, faced some of that lag during one of his matches. I've watched his streams before and know he's prone to rage when things don't go his way, but this time it went beyond simple shouts and grunts.

As you're about to see in the video, his opponent takes too many Gnasher shotgun shots, point-blank, and doesn't go down. In fact, the opposing player ends up killing him. Goldy loses it, throws his controller at the desk and takes off his headphones in disgust.

It's sad to see (if not a bit funny), especially because this looked like an Elite controller, too.

Gears of War 4 is out now on Xbox One, and Windows 10 PCs.
