Those who own BioShock or BioShock 2 on Steam get remaster upgrade free

This was pretty much expected, but it's nice to see confirmation anyway.

With 2K Games finally announcing BioShock: The Collection today after all the leaks, the firm took to the franchise's Steam page to confirm a free upgrade for BioShock and BioShock 2 owners on PC.

"Working with Blind Squirrel Games, we’ve remastered BioShock, BioShock 2, and BioShock Infinite making them look better than ever," reads the Steam page post. "If you already own BioShock, BioShock 2, and or Minerva’s Den on Steam, you will be able to upgrade to the remastered version of the respective title(s) for free after release."

As previously reported, BioShock: Infinite hasn't been given the remaster treatment because it already "meets current-gen console standards" and runs "smoothly on high-end" PC settings.

If you have yet to jump into Rapture, both BioShock and BioShock 2 are discounted through the Steam Summer Sale. The first entry will run you a whopping $3.99 (totally worth it) and BioShock 2 is also 80% off at $3.99.

That's a great deal, plus you'll get the HD upgrade free when the collection releases in September.

Infinite is also currently on sale through Steam for $7.49, and there's the BioShock Triple Pack, which contains all three games for $10.51 at an 85% discount.

BioShock: The Collection will be released on September 13 for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
