Overwatch earned $269M in digital revenues across PC and console - SuperData

Industry research firm SuperData has crunched the numbers on Overwatch, and as noted by the headline, it's sold gangbusters.

According to the latest digital market report from SuperData's analysts, Blizzard’s Overwatch topped May's digital revenue rankings with $269 million in earnings across all platforms. This helped push the PC market up by 8%.

The game was also the fifth most streamed title across live streaming channels

SuperData also provided figures for two other major May releases: Battleborn and Uncharted 4: A Thief's End.

Gearbox's online cooperative and competitive FPS with MOBA elements earned $18 million across PC and console, and Nathan Drake's swan song earned Sony and Naughty Dog around $56 million.

In the US during May, Uncharted 4 was the best-selling console game, followed by Overwatch in third and Battleborn in fourth, according to NPD.

SuperData said Uncharted 4 sold almost six times more digital copies at launch than Uncharted: Nathan Drake Collection.

For May, these were the top grossing PC DLC games by revenue:

  1. Overwatch
  2. DOOM
  3. Counter-Strike: Global Offensive
  4. Dark Souls 3
  5. Minecraft

On console, these were the top grossing games by revenue

  1. Uncharted 4: Thief’s End
  2. Call of Duty: Black Ops 3
  3. FIFA 16 Electronic Arts
  4. The Division
  5. Overwatch

The overall digital games market was up 11% year-over-year, earning $6 billion in May. Subscription-based gaming on PC fell below $200 million in total monthly earnings.
