Wonder Boy: The Dragon's Trap countdown appears

The platforming and action-adventure title Wonder Boy 3: The Dragon's Trap was released for the Sega Master System in 1989 and Game Gear three years later as Monster World 2: The Dragon's Trap.

It was eventually released for the PC Engine in Japan, TurboGrafx-16 in North America and ended up on Wii as a Virtual Console title in 2009.

The countdown ends in less than 24 hours as of press time, so we're just speculating on an HD re-release. It could just be a plain re-release. Anything is possible at this point.

Wonder Boy in Monster Land creator Ryuichi Nishizawa announced earlier this year Monster Boy and the Cursed Kingdom would be made available sometime this year for Mac, PC, PS4 and Xbox One.

It makes use of transformative features included in The Dragon's Trap and was originally titled Flying Hamster 2.
