Originally in development for PlayStation 3, the game is being produced by Kou Shibusawa and was first revealed during E3 2005. The game is based on Akira Kurosawa’s previously lost script Oni.

In 2010, Koei Tecmo announced Shibusawa would be producing the title and that Team Ninja was involved.

The firm went silent on the game after a TGS 2006 showing, with only small bit of information made available through Famitsu way back in 2009. After that, crickets.

Ni-Oh takes place in 16th century Japan and stars a blond samurai warrior who is trying to fulfill his destiny.

Expect the game to be released at some point next year.
