Assassin's Creed writer Corey May joins Certain Affinity as narrative director

Assassin's Creed writer Corey May has joined first-person shooter studio Certain Affinity as its narrative director.

May's Ubisoft writing credits also include Far Cry, Prince of Persia and Splinter Cell. He was also the co-writer for titles Army of Two, Batman: Arkham Origins and Terminator Salvation.

Certain Affinity is known for developing and collaborating on various multiplayer modes and maps for third-party franchises such as Call of Duty and Halo. It also assisted Valve on porting Left for Dead to Xbox 360, and released its own titles Age of Booty and Crimson Alliance.

With the hiring of May, the studio wants to become experts on not only multiplayer games, but "single-player and cooperative experiences."

"I'm thrilled to welcome Corey to Austin and Certain Affinity," said company president Max Hoberman in a statement (thanks, GI.biz).

"This is the first of several new key leadership positions as we evolve from helping others with AAA development to developing entire games on our own. While multiplayer will continue to be an important part of our DNA and our project portfolio, we're also intent on becoming experts at single-player and cooperative experiences.

"Corey building and leading our Narrative Department is a huge leap in this direction."

In addition to staff from Bungie, the Texas-based studio is also made up of former Digital Anvil, Electronic Arts, Microsoft, Midway Austin, NCSoft, Origin and Red Storm developers.
