According to Naughty Dog, the game is set three years after the events of Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception, with Nathan settling down with wife Elena Fisher and retiring as a fortune hunter. His older brother Sam, who isn't dead as previously thought, surfaces and need's Nathan's help finding a lost pirate colony and its legendary pirate treasure.

Physically and mentally similar, Sam is pretty much Nathan's equal in the game, per Naughty Dog. As AI, he and Sully both will help players out dynamically in combat. Melee capabilities of AI companions have been expanded since Uncharted 3, and any ally will be able to help players in a more realistic manner - think Ellie in The Last of Us.

The demo shown takes place a little later in the game, so by then players will be familiar with the controls, particularly Nathan's rope and the Jeep. Immersive driving in Uncharted has been something Naughty Dog want to do for a while, by overlapping it with the other mechanics such as exploration, solving problems and combat.

Those who wish to participate in the multiplayer beta, will need to buy the Nathan Drake Collection in order to try it out. The team is targeting 60fps for the multiplayer portion.

Uncharted 4 is out next year on PS4. Watch the demo above.
