Dynasty Warriors 8 Empires getting a free-to-play version

Dynasty Warriors 8 Empires will be available in a stripped-back free-to-play form in addition to its full retail release.

Dynasty Warriors 8 Empires Free Alliances Version will be available in March via the PlayStation Network.

FAV players can use Edit and Free Modes, and if they have PlayStation Plus they can play Empire Mode or take Free Mode online. This free version will be supported by the optional purchase of extra Edit Mode content.

Tecmo Koei has clearly started experimenting with free-to-play, as FAV follows on from Dead or Alive 5: Last Round Core Fighters.

In other Dynasty Warriors 8 Empires news, Tecmo Koei has announced that both the retail and free-to-play version will support character import from Dynasty Warriors 7 Empires (in addition to import from Dynasty Warriors 8 itself) sometime soon.

Dynasty Warriors 8 Empires is out now on PlayStation 3, PS4 and Xbox One. I check my mail box every day in feverish anticipation.
