Asura's Wrath, .hack, Naruto developer teases "shocking" project

CyberConnect2 will likely have something surprising to share this year.

President Hiroshi Matsuyama let slip a tease about the lauded Japanese studio's plans at the Machi Asobi event over the weekend.

Drawing on Japanese reports, Gematsu translated Matsuyama's comments as follows:

"It should be around the end of the year that we can announce a shocking project from our company."

Matsuyama's comment reportedly caused some chagrin to the company's PR representative, so don't get too excited just yet.

CyberConnect2 has a broad catalogue of properties under its belt. It's Namco Bandai's go-to developer for Naruto, and is responsible for the .hack universe. It's also behind cult classics Tail Concerto and Solatorobo: Red the Hunter], as well as Asura's Wrath and JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: All-Star Battle, among others.

I have no idea what the tease could refer to, although a sequel to Asura's Wrath, which didn't take off in the west, would surprise (and delight) me very much.
