A report by 17173.com - as translated by Kotaku - references an interview with Shanghai Media Group vice-president Zhang Dazhong where he said that Xbox One has shifted 100,000 units since it launched last week. Shanghai Media Group is the parent company of BesTV, Microsoft's local partner for Xbox.

Dazhong added that the tally also includes sales from pre-orders, and that the company hopes to sell over 1 million units by the same time next year.

Following the report, a Microsoft representative told Gamespot that the firm "does not report sales by market and has nothing to share." and that it's "thrilled to be first to market, leading the way in earning millions of fans in China."

Xbox One launched in China last week to a much warmer reception than its Japanese counterpart. Unit prices are 3,699 yuan ($602) for the Kinect-less version, or 4,299 yuan ($700) for the Kinect bundle.
