Destiny fans: what the heck is Bungie teasing for tomorrow?

Destiny is just under a week from launch, and suddenly Bungie is teasing some sort of surprise. What on Earth could it be?

The Destiny Twitter account posted the following tease earlier today:

Update: We're pretty sure this referred to the terrific Destiny live-action trailer, actually.

I have a theory based on my wistful longing and absolutely no evidence: Bungie is going to switch the servers on early and Activision will give retailers the green light to post pre-orders out. Here in Australia, JB HiFi has started sending shipping notifications - although as per the tweet below, official word is this is just release day prep.

EB Games, the other major games pre-order destination here in Oz, is also not promising anything:

And this despite Bungie cheekily hinting that if retailers shipped early it wouldn't mind at all.

In case you're wondering: I'm in the same boat as you are. As Polygon notes, Activision isn't sending out review code pre-release, so games press won't get a head start (I admit, I wanted one). The servers won't be switched on, even.

In most instances this would worry me, but it's accepted that MMORPGs don't do early review code, and Destiny is an always-on, shared-worlds shooter (read; console MMO). So, you know, fair enough I guess. I'm honestly not sure if reviews would even make any difference at all to what already looks to be a phenomenal launch.

Destiny hits PlayStation 3, PS4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One on September 9. It feels like forever away.
