For some reason, Q*Bert Rebooted is happening

Q*Bert Rebooted brings the classic arcade experience back, along with a newer, shinier version, and allows you to choose between them.

Q*Bert Rebooted will release on Linux, Mac and Windows on July 8 for $5, Polygon reports.

Android and iOS ports will follow, then Kindle Fire and Nook.

The game offers two play modes. Q*bert Classic is similar to the original 1982 experience with 2D gameplay and pixellated graphics. Q*bert Rebooted has shiny modern graphics and is played on a hexagonal field with additional characters, enemies, power-ups and traps.

One interesting snippet out of this whole affair is that the rights to Q*bert are held by Sony Pictures. Huh. Who knew?
