Before you dive into the scores, you can check out my Mario Kart 8 review for another opinion. In it, I suggest that Nintendo’s racer is perhaps the best reason to invest in Wii U yet. It’s honestly great.

Here are the scores as they drop, and remember, if you have one we’ve missed, paste it below and we’ll add it when we get a moment:

No brainer purchase for any WIIU owner + you get a free game…Nintendo is finally doing something right with the WII U. It’s time to dust that console off!

Edge Magazine gave it a 9/10 in their current issue.

The review went online this morning.

With how many reviewers are on a unanimous consensus with Mario kart games I am surprised that no one ever ever EVER gives them a mid to low score. Its almost as if no one hates Mario kart games or find them remotely meh like I do.

    Guess I’m a lone opinion

Do you have to play this with the retarded motion controls or can traditional analogue controller be used?

    #20 4 months ago
  21. ITFGaming

@silkvg247 you can play with the analogue sticks, but the option is there to play with motion controls.

@17 I never understood the fuss with SNES Mario Kart and have only given a cursory glance to one or two subsequent iterations. Remaining non-plussed throughout.

That said, I’m feeling a bit of a buzz on this one. I may give it a stab. I’ll be interested to see how fans of the lauded Sonic All Star Racing karting game feel about MK8 to help me decide.

Blue shells and intentional rubber-banding aside, I still consider Mario Kart to be the best in its class.
The course design is as visually appealing as its technically brilliant and that’s before all this anti-gravity things started popping up.

The thing is, I highly doubt that the gap in quality between Sonic Transformed and this is worth the price of another console.
    But I’m just being practical.
