PlayStation TV commitment “very unclear”, says Xbox Entertainment Studios boss

Microsoft doesn’t seem to see Sony as much of a competitor to its Xbox Original Programming scheme.

Speaking to Bloomberg, Xbox Entertainment Studios boss Nancy Tellem said Microsoft has been working on original content for 18 months ahead of its June debut, whereas Sony doesn’t seem to be making much of a bid.

“Microsoft’s dedicated a whole studio to support this kind of content development. Original content is something that everyone’s toying with right now. It’s very unclear how committed they are to that on PlayStation,” she said.

Tellem also commented that coming on board Microsoft was like being given the keys to a candy store.

“Whether it’s from a game like Fable, or Age of Empires, or Gears of War, or Forza or Halo. These are things that, frankly if we weren’t attached to Microsoft, everyone would yearn to have. It’s an amazing platform to work from,” she said.

Xbox Original programming includes a documentary about the E.T. graveyard dig and several other newly-detailed series.

Who gives a shit about original TV programming, Microsoft? Focus on games.

Anyone else see why they are clueless about the industry they try so hard to dominate?

Could say the same about Microsoft and games…

Are Microsoft looking down there nose at Sony for not “commiting” to doing the type of useless shit they are?

The chances of them making adaptions for TV that are actually worthwhile are slim in my opinion, judging from the software they have put out anyway… but who knows, I could be wrong.

That’s a really dumb statement, considering Sony has already announced plans for original programming, not to mention they own TV & movie studios, hence why they don’t need to create a division for if, like MS.

I’m sure breaking bad was a Sony TV production.

… But Sony has original programming. It’s called being a company that already makes things like Amazing Spider-Man.

It’s kind of amusing to see him try to emphasize something nobody asked for to distract people from how XBox One doesn’t give them something they actually did ask for. While I can see this kind of campaign taking off, it would only be in addition to what the people buying the console want first and foremost, which is games.

This is a load of balls.

MS should concentrate their efforts into making more games, not shitty TV programs. Having said that this is how they expect to shift more Bones to non-gamers so maybe it’ll work for them.

For the average gamer though, I don’t think they give many shits…

Too bad Sony’s committed to games instead. We know that sure bit them in the ass. Haha
