Kingdom Under Fire 2 will look better on PS4 than PC

Monday, 7th April 2014 20:20 GMT By Sherif Saed

Upcoming MMO, Kingdom Under Fire 2, will look better on PlayStation 4 than on PC when it’s released later this year, according to producer Sang-Yoon Lee.

Speaking to 2P at GDC, game producer Sang-Yoon Lee was asked if he could talk about the graphics difference between both versions. He said, “a little hard to tell you right now because if the PC users know, they will be very angry. PS4 has much better graphics. PS4 graphics quality will be much better and higher than the PC version.”

So there you have it.

The PC version is out later this month, while the PS4 version will be out sometime this year. The studio is said to be in discussion with Microsoft to bring the MMO to Xbox One.

Thanks, Videogamer, Gaming Bolt.

Pc beggars should beg for a petition that upgrades the graphics to the level of the ultimate gaming system. Just kidding :)

    Muhahahahaah :)
But in the end it isn`t that weird because according to a steam survey ps4 outperforms an average gaming pc. So why would the developers bother making higher graphics for a handful of pc gamers. But graphics aren`t the main thing in this game and I`m waiting to test this game.

Possibly an indication that the game is going to be poorly optimized for PC. Which is surprising considering the Sony dev kit is a PC… which is also using a heavy derivative of OPEN GL…

So yeah, it means they probably scaled it down just to say it runs on everything but didn’t put any effort to the ” High ” settings. The MMO space for PC is highly competitive, perhaps they didn’t want to invest more time and money in the PC title.

While it sounds great as a PS4 title, you could probably do much better on PC with something else… a wait and see approach for this title.

Well, considering it’s an MMO, it’s not entirely surprising because MMOs on PC are generally not the most graphically intensive games in order for them to run on 3-4 years old laptops that, AFAIK, a lot of MMO players use to play. This either means that the game is really badly optimised, or it will run at very high framerate on high end machines. That or they’ve been payed by Sony to do it.

Praising out own incompetence, are we?

@6: Average Steam PC is actually better than PS4 in every respect except the amount of RAM and number of CPU cores. However, both of these is meaningless as PS4 has the cores running at a meager 1.6 GHz and has almost half of RAM reserved for the OS.

@7/8: You’re probably right. MMOs tend to have half-assed graphics. My 2011 desktop runs most current MMORPGs at around 60 fps in 1080p.

Lol. Who fucking cares? I don’t know who’s worse, the console shitheads getting happy about this or the pc nerds getting “butthurt” (such a funny word). Play your games and have fun. That’s it. Why does it matter how the game will look on platforms you don’t own?
