PlayStation Now: Sony issues another wave of beta invites

Friday, 28th March 2014 10:19 GMT By Dave Cook

PS Now beta invites have surfaced once more, as Sony allows more players access to its cloud streaming service.

IGN reports that several of its readers have claimed to have been send PlayStation Now beta invites over email, and registered PSN gamers in the US would do well to check their inboxes to see if they’ve been included.

It follows a recent redesign of the Gaikai site, which included an image that featured potential PS Now game prices.

There’s still no word on when PS Now is coming to Europe.

Why is the beta only on PS3? After all, PS3 owners can already play PS3 games on their system.

I wasn’t aware that the beta was something to be publicly known.

It seems strange to me that it’s not possible to try it with PS4, but I guess Sony figures that PS3 is where the majority of use will be in the beginning, so they want to optimize it for that. Anyone with a PS4 would probably only try it with a PS4, and I think they want to make absolutely sure the fix as much as they can for the PS3 implementation first.

I’m waiting for the second step to go through so I can try it out, though I’m not sure what I’d be trying out exactly unless they have some parts that don’t require me to pay anything. I can’t think of any games I want to stream/rent that I don’t already own.

Good question. Maybe its just for testing purposes as PS4s are still “rare” compared to PS3.
