PS4 game pre-loading to come in April, Sucker Punch suggests

PlayStation 4 exclusive inFamous: Second Son will be launched at midnight tonight on PSN, but the store doesn’t currently allow pre-loading to give players a chance to install ahead of time. Developer Sucker Punch has suggested that’s all about to change in April.

It follows confirmation of a new PS4 firmware update that will drop HDCP restrictions among other things. Could this update enable pre-loads as well?

Sucker Punch had this to say on Twitter:

Would you use this service? Let us know below.

I’m more concerned about the lack of reviews tbh.

@JoshuaOak You mean the ones coming in a few hours? It would be cause for concern if they were coming after launch or launch day.

Speak of lack of something, wheres the launch trailer?

Probably coming along with the embargo lift.

Yes those. I don’t think asking for reviews a week before launch is to much to ask.

And where IS the trailer? 1st major exclusive since launch, you would think Sony could drum up some enthusiasm.

Edit: Few hours? I mean few minutes, jesus.

Embargo broken reviews: GamerFitNation 9/10…nd-son-review/ 8.5

    Uh huh.

@JoshuaOak Yeah right, less than 30 minutes now. Two have been linked, probably should have saved it for review article.

Thanks for the links. I recommend using Google to translate the Dutch review into English. Very entertaining read :)

Another feature exclusive to US (Can’t even preorder games in EU).

    This shit needs to improve.

Do people fall for such a thing as ‘pre-loading’?

It’s pointless and doesn’t actually mean anything substantial for the end user.

So you might get to play it an hour or two faster… really…. is it worthy of an attempt of such a paradigm shift that Sony seem to be trying to make it out to be?

A minor convenience, maybe… but not really anything someone without OCD should be caring about.
