Command & Conquer free shooter Renegade-X out next month, trailer inside

Command & Conquer Renegade has received a free, fan-created multiplayer follow-up called Renegade-X. After years in development, the game's open beta launch is coming next month. There's also a new trailer that runs down the competitive gameplay features and more.

PC Gamer reports that the unofficial shooter started life as an Unreal Tournament 3 mod and has been developed solely by fans. The Renegade-X open beta will go live on February 26 and will be followed by patches and updates.

Check out the Renegade-X site for more details. So far though, it sounds like a neat blend of FPS combat and strategy that sees the GDI and NOD forces go head to head in mad battles.
