Chillingo founders leave EA for reasons unknown

Monday, 6th January 2014 10:04 GMT By Dave Cook

Chillingo founders Chris Byatte and Joe Wee have left EA and the company they founded in 2005 behind.

MCV reports that both Byatte and Wee have departed Chillingo and EA. We have dropped them a line to get more details, and a company rep told VG247, “I can confirm that Chris and Joe have left EA and Chillingo but other than that there is no further statement from us at this time.”

It follows the high-profile departure of PopCap CEO Dave Roberts, who announced his retirement last week, leaving John Vechey in the role.

Last week we reported that Criterion Games founders Alex Ward and Fiona Sperry also flew EA’s coop last week to set up their own studio.

We’ll have more on this one as it comes. Stay tuned.

What do all these ‘founders’ expect? When you sell your soul to the devil, there will always be a price to pay

@4 It’s a video game publisher. Not a bank or insurance company.

You people have some whack perspective sometimes.

Mind you, the timing is obviously suspect. One I could understand, but this is multiple in a forthnight. There was either some sort of executive decision that encouraged people to leave, or this has something to do with the founding of the new studio that was mentioned before. It wouldn’t surprised me if they all ended up turning up there in the near future.
