Arkane Studios and Battlecry Studios are at work on projects utilising CryEngine, according to a Tweet by Zenimax HR Manager Ashley Pierce. Arkane has two studios, France and Texas, the latter of which is working on the occasionally cancelled Prey 2, while Battlecry has no announced project and is composed of ex-Bioware staffers.
From the Tweet it’s ambiguous what projects are being hired for, so this is by no means confirmation that as part of Prey 2’s shift over to Arkane it’s now also running on CryEngine. It was previously running on Id Tech prior to being cancelled.
Still I’ll take whatever hints at Prey 2 I can get. I wonder what will become of that game, if it’ll live on for years like a Duke Nukem Forever or perhaps a The Bureau: XCOM Declassified.
Also, you don’t hear many people mentioning Unreal 4 these days. I wonder if/why that engine’s going through a tough time.
