GTA 5 referenced in latest AMD Catalyst driver, PC petition reaches 609,239 signatures

Gran Theft Auto 5 PC rumors keep popping up, and now a Guru3D member has found a reference to the game in the latest AMD Catalyst driver.

Here’s the evidence:

Last week, sources close to Eurogamer told the site the game would land on PC in Q1 2014, and back in August Nvidia’s senior director of investor relations, Chris Evenden, noted a PC version of GTA 5 during a financial call, but the firm said this was made in error.

Earlier last week, Intel executive Chris R. Silva said he expects Grand Theft Auto 5 to come to PC eventually, suggesting the PC version was excluded at launch due to “someone” paying to keep it on consoles.

Supposedly, a the source code for the PC and a PlayStation 4 version, can also be found in the Xbox 360 version, and as of today, 609,239 people have signed the petition which asks Rockstar to release the title on PC.

Make a petition to get a game on PC thats already programmed to come out later on PC anyway. Pretend the petition did something. How PC fanboys make themselves feel important.

600,000 is good demand, but wasn’t this rumoured for a November release? Possibly pushed back? Well it could happen, considering the GTA PC history.

Worst kept secret. Also, those petitions are stupid. The game was coming to PC anyway.

@4 Aw man, how cool would that be?

And then everybody’s towers just kinda float up and lock together and turn into like… A giant tower… And it’s full of like… Flops. And power.

So… Actually we’d make pretty sucky power rangers. Fuck.

Yay, after playing on PS3, I can’t wait for my PC to finally make this game look like it’s supposed to!

Petitions show up demand, and give people a “voice”, better than shouting on random forums. So I think they matter.

It will released on PC and next-gen eventually imo. They have the game ready and porting should not be a big hassle. However I was probably a good decision by them to delay the other versions as it allows them to maximise sales on current-gen versions.

@9 Nah. Geki was spot on, although he does seem a little stuck on teh fanboys.

Nobody gives a shit about a petition. The real value there is that a publisher can go out and say “We listened!” when really they’re just harvesting the free PR you provided.

Which I guess is some sort of an incentive, but it makes absolutely no difference in dollars and cents. No one with half a brain would bank on a simple HTML form signed by such visionary gamers as Fuckpants McLovin from Screwtown in AZZmerica.

Tru dat. If they want to port the game, they will. If they don’t, they won’t. Petitioning about it will accomplish nothing except make everyone feel better about themselves.

So, all the single one who signed petition is a PC fanboy? LOL…

Petition happened even all previous GTA games release in PC because :

    1. Red Dead Redemption (No hint why Rockstar do not release in PC)

    2. Console Exclusivity
I think exclusive games are silly, It’s like buying a Sony DVD player so you can watch the Bond movies, an absurd idea but we do that every day in gaming. Now we have phone games exclusive to carriers, because of course a Halo fan is going to drop his phone carrier and switch to play a Halo phone game, right? Uh… Sure.
I have a device that can play these games, just like I have a device that can watch movies and play music, but I am barred from some games because of artificial corporate politics.
I really think it stands between games and greater mass market appeal and acceptance.

I find it so funny console elitist being jealous of the game to be released on PC? I wonder who really is the “master race” here.

@13 Yeah, even they make a “Do not release on PC Petition” for GTA V

Console elitist proud for their exclusive games like PC elitist proud for their hardware..
PC and Console Gamer just play their games, do not care about their exclusive stay being exclusive or not and their hardware 1000x more powerfull than others or not.

Better than spilling tons of virtual ink and tears, don’t you think? ;)
I would rather see people showing their demand by doing such things rather than engaging in virtual wars.

They were putting it out on PC all along. Same thing with next gen, they just wanted your money twice.

VG247 reporting wrong information yet again.

This is in 13.10 beta 2 drivers, they are NOT the lastest drivers. 13.11 Beta 1 is the latest driver released from AMD.

Seriously, I have been on Guru3D for around six years now and I only joined here two years ago. This website is becoming a joke, littered with idiot people commenting and trolling, misinformed articles, extremely poor grammar in around 8/10 articles (sure my grammar is not much better).

Two options, deal with it or leave through the virtual door.

lol Who paid who exactly? The Illuminati? The reptilians? Aliens? The only people who could have paid were either Sony or MS and if they did they’d be paying for exclusive console rights, not to exclude PC.

But hey, whatever makes you PC fanboys feel like the downtrodden victims of the evil console conspiracy you wish you were.
