Defiance patch gives weapons a jolly good sorting out

Trion Worlds has lifted the hood on Defiance and had a thorough rummage around, resulting in an overhaul to weapons likely to produce cries of "nerf" and "buff" throughout the MMO's commentsphere.

In a lengthy blog post, creative lead Trick Dempsey explained that patch 1.1.05, deployed today, is designed to improve the "fun factor" of Defiance's weapons, since they're the primary means of interaction with the world.

As a result, it should now be much easier to see what a new weapon does when you collect it, and rare loot should be much more effective.

Useless generated results like rate of fire bonuses on single-shot weapons have been axed, as have effects like a bonus to self-revive, since nobody actually enjoys dying.

The full post is worth a read if you're interested in the nitty-gritties.

Defiance is a subscription MMO available on PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 with ties to the sci-fi TV show of the same name.
