PS4 Perfect Day commercial accompanies Greatness Awaits site launch

Tuesday, 15th October 2013 04:07 GMT By Brenna Hillier

Sony has kicked the PS4 marketing machine into gear with the release of a new TV spot during US prime time and a spiffy new community-focused website.

The new commercial is live action and has shades of several major releases; not sure where Sony is going with the Skyrim vibe, given the lack of fantasy RPGs in the PlayStation 4′s launch line up; maybe it’s supposed to the The Elder Scrolls Online, which is due on the console sometime in 2014. Killzone: Shadow Fall and DriveClub are definitely launch titles representin’, though; check it out below.

Sony has also launched a new website called PS4: Greatness Awaits. Users are invited to contribute their own little slices of greatness – tweets, Instagrams, and so on – to be featured on the site.

The PlayStation 4 launches on November 15 in North America and November 29 in Europe.

Thanks, Gematsu.

Isn’t using Perfect Day a bit hackneyed these days ? I’m guessing this won’t be shown in the UK.

Considerably clearer message than last gen’s “This is living” nonsensical bullshit.

Hidden message: White not-quite-alpha male? This is the console for you!

Why do people in comments shit on Sony, it’s a TV ad, they can use whatever song they like, a ad will never cater to everyone, I’m a hiphop listener, hardcore football fan and a gamer, likewise all other gamers have different interests, so if something isn’t aim at you, don’t shit on the company.

At least they have started marketing the thing, good luck to both PS4 & XB1 this November, I’m getting both, so win win for me

Pretty good. Driving is clearly DriveClub inspired, shooting is clearly KZ and the RPGness at the beginning? Probably Elder Scroll Online … but that would be the only third party title in there.

awesome ad! PS3 had real stinker ads. And yes, I HATED the Kevin Butler ads.
The Greatness Awaits ad’s have been epic! Mark my words, 29 October they’ll release one for the EU! Why? Because this marks -4weeks to US launch.

@8 I doubt they’ll do a separate EU ad, these types of ads cost alot more than most realize to produce and unless they see it as not suitable for the EU (like KB) then they’ll keep it.
