Soul Sacrifice co-developers at Sony Japan Studio are working on new PS4 title – report

Wednesday, 9th October 2013 09:26 GMT By Dave Cook

Sony Japan Studio’s internal team – dubbed ‘Japan Studio External Development Department’ – is said to be working on a new PS4 title.

The team are known within Sony Japan Studio as co-developers of Soul Sacrifice, Soul Sacrifice Delta and Rain, as well as incoming PS Vita releases Destiny of Spirits and Freedom Wars.

Siliconera reports – by way of Famitsu – that the team is said to be working on its very own PS4 project. While all of the titles listed above are collaborations of varying degrees, this new game appears to be entirely of the team’s own design. It’ll be interesting to see what they come up with.

If it is actually true of course, hence the report tag.

What do you think of the team’s output so far? Let us know below.

I got a feeling it would be a download title, which could only mean good things, cause they should be able to take more risks as such.

@2 Hah :P I think it’s because they help external teams co-develop titles while still in-house. Like helping Comcept with Soul Sacrifice.

It will probably be another small scale PSN game since SCEJ is mostly divided into small teams. When a game like Knack is their most “ambitious title” (going by the words of the game’s producer they had to outperform themselves in order to make it)then i think everyone should keep their expectations in check.

That said however it doesn’t mean that small scale/PSN game = bad game.I think there’s a lot of talented game designers and artists in there and games like Rain and Gravity Rush prove this.
