Metal Gear Solid 5, Ground Zeroes team shooting for 60 fps on next-gen, 30 fps on current-gen

Hideo Kojima has said he’s aiming for 60 frames per second on next-gen versions of Metal Gear Solid 5.

Speaking with Eurogamer at TGS 2013, Kojima said his team is aiming for 30 FPS on current-gen consoles.

“This game was originally developed for multiple platforms, multiple devices and multiple generations,” he said. “Fox Engine was created with the current generation in mind. Maybe with other games that are being created exclusively for next-gen it might look a little behind.

“Of course for the next generation the resolution and the lighting will look much better. Gameplay wise it will be the same – we’re trying to make it as close as possible. The gameplay experience won’t be affected whether it’s next gen or current gen.”

MGS 5 is coming to PlayStation 3, PS4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One in 2014.

Note: Ground Zeroes is NOT MGS5. MGS5 is The Phantom Pain. Ground Zeroes is a canonical prequel to MGS5:TPP.

It’ll be silky smooth on that X1.

I’m a bit confused. If Ground Zeroes is supposed to be a prequel to Phantom Pain, is it going to be a separate release or will it be in MGS:V? (like the tanker level in MGS2)

Is Phantom Pain going to be released for PS360?

@1: Aren’t they both on the same disk? Hideo really needs to clear that up in a big-ass press release. He fucked that one up.

Guys. We don’t know yet. We know that GZ is a prequel, but we don’t know if it will be separate game, if it will be separate disc or if it will come out before TPP.

Only official word about it, is that it’s a prequel.

At this point in time they are separate releases, although not particularly clear.

No mentions of bundles, same disc. TPP is coming to PS3/360/PS4/One. Unsure about GZ but most likely the same but is unconfirmed. ATM.

Combined they both make up MGS 5. GZ = Prologue TPP = Main Dish

What a shit-show. He should be embarrassed that this still isn’t cleared up.

Its “meant to be this way”, its a classic Kojima rug pull! ho ho cheeky sod!

Really though what the fuck is going on with Metal Gear 5. This is like a Valve level ARG gone horribly wrong.

@6 Unfortunately, that link doesn’t confirm it because when they asked specifically if it’s two separate SKUs, they got a no comment as a reply.

Koname gave up on Vita, so Kojima did… Or it was the other way?

Are you sure? This doesn’t sound like a no comment?
“Ground Zeroes and The Phantom Pain are two separate games,” Boor clarified to Siliconera via e-mail.

“We got in touch with Boor again, this time asking if the two games will be part of the same package or on the same disc. He replied: “Can’t confirm at this time”.

    The games are separate.

You can’t give up if you weren’t even trying hard.

I assumed Ground Zeroes was kind of like playing as Snake at the start of MGS2 or Virtuous Mission in MGS3… But its actually a separate release? Yeah, kind of a mess there.
