XCOM: Enemy Within expands the core game come November, and to give you an overview of what to expect, VG247′s Sam Clay sat down with Firaxis Games producer and designer Garth DeAngelis. Head below to hear all about cyborgs, mechs and other things that can cause you a horrible, horrible death.

XCOM: Enemy Within launches on November 12. It will cost $30 as an add-on for Mac and PC, but on PS3 and Xbox 360 will be released as part of the Commander’s Edition of XCOM: Enemy Unknown.

I’ve got a weird disconnect with this game. I mean I can see why it’s a good game, but it just feels wrong to me.

In the original X-Com you really felt like you were building this “ramshackle militia” from the bottom up.

I really miss that feeling of basically taking a plane full of gun-toting country bumpkins into the field and watching half of them get slaughtered by aliens that were twice as powerful as they were.

The worst part of UFO Defense was when your guys actually stopped being dummies and had the good equipment. It was just really cool to have the odds against you somehow.

I lost a lot of my interest in this when they said it doesn’t follow on from the end of the last game but takes place within it. I already played that and beat it probably a dozen times now. New units etc are nice but I want some new story as well and not just added on while you did this x happened as well.
