Borderlands 2 level cap increasing to 72 next week, more DLC in the pipeline

Borderlands 2 players will get a level cap increase next week to 72. Come September 3 you can gain levels, and a future update will allow players to “Overpower” their level as well. Plus, in October, new Headhunting quests will start rolling out beginning with TK Baha’s Bloody Harvest.

According to an interview with Digital Trends, the upcoming DLC includes the four-player Digistruct Peak Challenge area where players will be pitted against various enemies from the game.

Enemy classes will become stronger and more random has the player gains more Overpower levels. For example: if a player enters the arena at max level they can unlock the Overpower levels starting at level one. They can even hosts games with other players and set which Overpower level to battle at, which will max out at level 80 with access to monsters and loot at said level.

Gearbox is using Overpower instead of releasing a level cap of 80 because it is running low on skill points for players and it wants to maintain the diversity of skill trees.

After the release of Digistruct Peak Challenge, October will see the release TK Baha’s Bloody Harvest which the first of three planned Headhunter packs.

Each will cost less than previous story add-ons but a price has not been confirmed yet.

Thanks, Shack.

I’m glad they are doing this for the hardcore Fans, however, they’re not getting another dollar out of me. Considering how 3 of the 4 DLC were outsourced to a different company that made them sub-par shows me that Pitchford could care less. I just hope the next few DLCs are made in house like tiny tina’s was, and i hope they make them well for the people that are willing to buy them.

Off topic, anyone know what ever happened with the two lawsuits filed against them (Sega and Id)? are those still going on?

I love Borderlands 2, it’s ranked as one of my favs of all time now. Quite a feat considering I couldn’t get into Borderlands 1 much, I felt bored with it really quickly. Borderlands 2′s story and writing was just so much better and they improved on the game in every way.

I don’t know why people are complaining about extra costs for DLC, they announced that the season pass would encompass 4 DLC packs and they fulfilled that. That they are giving the fans stuff outside of that instead of just dropping further development is great news to me. If you don’t want to pay for the new DLC thats fine, but some of us don’t mind paying $5 to $10 for extra levels and content, and stop being so entitled that you think you should get everything for free.

They are evidently not releasing Borderlands 3 anytime in the near future, so anything to tide us over until it comes out is fine with me.

For Borderlands 3, they need to have another Tiny Tina D&D DLC with a new questline, that was one of the best DLC’s I have ever played, right up there with Bethesda’s and The missing Link for Deus Ex:HR

I liked BL1 and all the DLC, game was a fresh IP and a shooter-light-rpg done right(minimal rpg, just enough to liven it up vs a shooter. lots of action and eye candy)

borderlands 2, while alright, felt more like trying to cash in on a popular IP and felt rushed. weapon variety should have been revamped/redesigned better. u used a handful of ‘good’ guns the whole game, 90% of the stuff was junk, worse than BL1. and then the dlc for bl2 was half empty and rushed and outsourced.

i am glad there is more dlc, i stopped after the pirate one(it was so empty and almost like a fan made mod) maybe now if i go back to bl2 it will feel like a real game, after i spend another gamer’s worth of money on it… which i will, but it definitely could have all been done in a more costumer-friendly, less cashed-in, way.

Oh jeez, GB is pretty awful at level scaling, and the drop rate for legendary gear is damn atrocious, having to re-farm all that good loot for a third time is too much.

@1 it’s “couldn’t care less” not “could care less”.

Could care less doesn’t make any sense.
